Crux Labs, an artificial intelligence platform that transforms business judgment into continuous agent improvement, launched today with over $6 million in funding.
Benchstrength and Misneach led the round, with participation from Analog Ventures and Pareto Holdings.
The scale of enterprise AI agents deployed can range from thousands to millions of user interactions per day. Existing observability platforms make it easier for humans to monitor and inspect agent traces, but make it difficult to improve agent behavior at higher volumes.
Many teams randomly sample the top 1% or fewer of traces for manual review based on a specific metric, threshold, or random selection, meaning the vast majority of agent failures go unnoticed.
“Aligning AI agents with human judgment is one of the biggest challenges of our time,” said co-founder and CEO Julie Kheyfets (pictured left). “Agents are incredibly good at achieving goals, but they lack access to the years of heuristics that we as humans have accumulated in our heads.”
If “what good looks like” exists in the minds of experts, from the company’s perspective it is likely that solutions will always come too late. This can result in weeks passing before an issue becomes a minor bug and escalates to the point where a ticket is entered into the system and eventually a patch is applied. This cycle can be shortened greatly if experts and AI agents are on equal terms.
Crux deploys its own agents to address this challenge by acting as an evaluator and improvement team. They capture employee expert judgment and calibrate it across millions of interactions, so employees don’t have to look at a tiny sample to understand what’s happening. They can expand their own judgment over a larger segment.
The company said its platform has strong appeal among high-growth startups and Fortune 500 companies in healthcare, cybersecurity, financial services and other complex industries.
“Engineering teams know how to build AI agents and subject matter experts know what success looks like, but companies are missing the bridge between them,” said co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Krishna Kulkarni (right).
