Financial institutions turn data into action with Dell AI

Most financial institutions today do not suffer from a lack of customer data; The problem is converting the existing data into something useful.

The challenge is sifting through CRM logs, channel interactions, transaction flows and market signals, which often exist in isolation. The solution is a technology that can connect and unify data, understand context and act in real time. Going beyond AI models and bringing these three capabilities together is the goal of the AI data infrastructure that Dell Technologies Inc. offers to its financial customers.

“In many cases, the next constraint is not the model, but the data,” said Arthur Lewis, president of the Infrastructure Solutions Group at Dell. “That’s the problem that the AI Data Platform was designed to solve. Within the Dell AI Factory, it is the data foundation that curates, connects and delivers enterprise data to power AI, and specifically agent AI.”

How Dell’s platform creates a more efficient data path from raw enterprise intelligence to AI-enabled context in the financial services industry will be a key focus of the Dell Technologies New York Symposium on October 20. Dell executives and industry experts will join analysts from theCUBE Research to discuss the growing role of agentic AI, AI-powered PCs and modernized infrastructure in shaping the future of finance. (*Disclosure below.)

Four-engineer architecture for financial institutions

Dell’s AI Data Platform offers a four-engine, single-storage architecture that helps modernize data infrastructure and increase efficiency for financial institutions.

The platform includes a data orchestration engine that leverages the latest machine learning models and normalizes product documentation while orchestrating retrieval requests and compiling the information required for intelligence reports. An Apache Spark-based data processing engine handles feature engineering, customer segmentation, and affinity scoring training.

Dell’s data search engine, powered by Elasticsearch, provides in-depth search through vector and keyword searches of product knowledge bases. The Data Analytics Engine exposes the Iceberg Lakehouse as a managed SQL query surface that agents can invoke directly. Any MCP-compliant agent framework can discover available data products and execute controlled queries without having to create a custom adapter.

A key part of Dell’s approach is to make structured and unstructured enterprise data accessible to AI agents while preserving the business context necessary for reliable answers. The company’s Unified Semantic Layer is designed to address this challenge by connecting information from different sources.

“The semantic layer gives consistent business meaning to structured and unstructured information, so that a term means the same thing wherever it appears,” said Vrashank Jain, senior product manager for the AI Data Platform at Dell. “It uses open models to solve the hardest part of building semantic layers: generating entities and definitions and finding meaning at scale with human-in-the-loop for verification.”
