Omnissa debuts AI Agents for IT, a managed cloud PC service, and Elara for AI governance

Digital workplace company Omnissa LLC today introduced new artificial intelligence agents for IT teams and virtual desktop users, a managed cloud PC service and an AI governance product called Omnissa Elara.

The releases, announced at the company’s Omnissa ONE 2026 conference in Orlando, address a problem that is said to be getting worse as employees adopt AI tools faster than their IT departments can approve them. According to the company’s State of Digital Workspace 2026 report, the use of AI assistant apps on enterprise endpoints increased nearly 1,000% in 2025, with about three-quarters of that coming from unapproved tools.

Bharath Rangarajan, chief product officer of Omnissa, said that AI is “shortening the distance between insights and actions.” Companies need to be able to see and control what AI is doing before giving it more autonomy, he said.

Three of the new agents are designed for IT administrators. Troubleshooting falls to the Digital Employee Experience agent, who traces an employee’s issue to its root cause and recommends a solution based on existing playbooks or previous Workspace ONE Assist support sessions.

The Windows App Lifecycle Agent handles application packaging, which is still largely manual work, and tests each app before it is reviewed by an administrator. The third works with Workspace ONE Vulnerability Defense, a vulnerability remediation product that Omnissa launched last year.

Within Vulnerability Defense, the agent prioritizes vulnerabilities and prepares patches, keeping a human in the loop before deployment. Large language models accelerate vulnerability discovery, Omnissa said, and the time to exploit a vulnerability has dropped to under a day, so the agent is designed to help IT teams patch quickly enough to keep up.

Beyond its own agents, Omnissa also opens its platform to external agents. Administrators can connect the agent tool of their choice through a new hosted server based on the Model Context Protocol. The scope of this tool is limited by the existing role and permissions of the administrator.

On the virtual desktop side, Horizon Delegate runs in an employee’s Horizon virtual machine and performs tasks under that employee’s approved identity and permissions. Work can continue after the employee disconnects. The other desktop announcement is Omnissa Cloud PC, a desktop-as-a-service offering that the company operates itself. The service includes Omnissa’s underlying computing power, endpoint management and digital employee experience tools.

Elara addresses the governance side of today’s announcements. Omnissa calls it “the layer of authority” for AI governance and effective corporate actions. The product incorporates signals from systems that typically run separately, allowing IT and security leaders to see how AI apps, models and agents are being used. Policies tailored to broader business conditions can then be applied before taking action with real consequences.

“Autonomously managing, securing and monitoring end-user workspace is now a requirement for enterprise IT as AI takes on more responsibility across the enterprise,” said Phil Hochmuth, research vice president of endpoint management and enterprise mobility at International Data Corp. “IT leaders need clear insights into human and AI-driven activities and controls to guide actions at machine speed.”

Omnissa did not provide any availability dates for the new products. Cloud PC will initially run on Amazon Web Services Inc., with other cloud providers to follow. Omnissa was spun off from VMware Inc. in 2024 after Broadcom Inc. acquired VMware and sold its end-user computing business to KKR & Co. Inc. for $4 billion.
