Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Pros and Cons

Everything is held together by mechanics that are consistent with Modern Warfare III, but still feel like an Infinity Ward title. However, matchmaking in multiplayer remains an issue, potentially plunging the franchise back into the sweats that fans have grown tired of over the years. While a lot can still change between now and the game’s final season, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has taken everything back to basics and discovered how to make it fun again.

While the execution of the plot is a bit shaky, the engaging multiplayer options, including DMZ, aptly prove that Infinity Ward can still deliver compelling military FPS experiences. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is a strong return to form and serves as a solid sendoff for the rebooted sub-series.

A hallmark of excellence. There may be defects, but they are negligible and do not cause much damage. With a total package of three distinct and sophisticated modes, Modern Warfare 4 is Call of Duty’s strongest case for a full development cycle. Given time and resources, Infinity Ward has shown that it can still be at the top and that CoD is still a game worth playing every year.

Could Modern Warfare 4 have been a little bolder and more daring? Maybe, but the end result is one of the most solid Call of Duty games of all time, one that anyone even slightly interested in this franchise should really consider playing. Infinity Ward has hit a home run with this game, and I can see myself losing countless hours to this game over its life cycle.

Modern Warfare 4 impresses in every respect and combines an exciting story campaign with a balanced, innovative multiplayer mode and an extensive DMZ extraction shooter mode. Beautifully presented, it masterfully blends realism with artistic flair, offering a meaty and satisfying weapon simulation that takes every firefight to a higher level. This is simply Call of Duty at its finest.

Modern Warfare 4 is the ultimate Call of Duty experience – both beautiful and violent, endearing and heartbreaking. From a heart-pounding campaign that’s nothing short of a cinematic masterpiece, to a thrilling DMZ mode that tests players’ mettle, to well-rounded multiplayer with new features that keep things fresh, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 might just be the best CoD ever.

Modern Warfare 4’s multiplayer feels fair from the first game, and DMZ gives players the chance to feel the thrill of an extraction shooter with the gunplay and map creativity that characterize Call of Duty.

Modern Warfare 4 made me feel something for the series again. A consistently strong set of missions manages to successfully juggle a bloated cast, saying goodbye to familiar faces while forging impressive bonds with new ones. Its sprawling mission behind enemy lines, which borrows most of the ideas from DMZ mode, is a real highlight, as is every time its blockbuster ambitions are fulfilled and full-throttle battles ensue. It might not be quite enough to rank among the very best Call of Duty campaigns, but if it’s going to be the end of this particular saga, then Modern Warfare is at least a major success.

Modern Warfare 4 rounds out the series with several shocking moments and ends on a high note. The pace never falters despite the two interwoven storylines and changing POVs, and the wide variety of missions and locations ensures that the story remains exciting. Modern Warfare 4 is another top-notch thrill ride.

The full MW4 review will be out next week, but I can say that fans of CoD’s single-player components shouldn’t be disappointed with what Infinity Ward has cooked up here. I think it might go down as one of the better options in the series and definitely one to remember to right the ship after years of uncertainty and questionable decision-making. And to top it off, the game is great on PC and features the best graphics in the franchise to date, making the whole thing all the more entertaining.
