In addition to modular hydrogen production systems and modernized commercial vehicle fuel cells, Hyundai Motor Group is demonstrating a robot that automatically refuels a hydrogen-powered cleaning truck.
The World Hydrogen Expo 2026 opened on November 4th at KINTEX in Goyang, South Korea and runs until November 6th.
Organized by Hyundai’s hydrogen brand HTWO and business platform, the exhibition shows how production infrastructure, transportation and industrial applications could form connected hydrogen ecosystems tailored to local resources and demand.
Robot takes over truck refueling
Hyundai presents the first demonstration of its Automatic Charging Robot-Hydrogen (ACR-H) for commercial vehicles. The exhibition shows the system that automatically refuels a fuel cell-powered cleaning truck.
The robot is intended to reduce repetitive refueling tasks and make refueling more convenient for commercial vehicle drivers. It is part of a broader display that covers vehicle operations, maintenance, fleet management and fueling.
A longer-lasting fuel cell system for commercial vehicles will also be presented for the first time. According to Hyundai, improved cells and key components improve the durability of the stack and support reliability during extended operation and long-distance driving.
The Bluelink Uptime Care fleet management system allows operators to track vehicle operations and component health. Features include abnormality diagnosis, preventive maintenance and real-time alerts.
The mobility exhibition also includes the 2027 NEXO SUV, a hydrogen-powered locomotive model and a flat fuel cell module, illustrating potential applications in large-volume long-distance transportation.
Twelve stacks form a production module
On the production side, Hyundai presents the modular polymer electrolyte membrane electrolysis technology.
Twelve stacks can be combined into a 5-megawatt-class electrolyzer system module capable of producing approximately 700 metric tons (772 US tons) of hydrogen annually. According to the group, the modular architecture can be scaled to hundreds of megawatts.
A 1-megawatt-class container demonstration plant is in operation in Gwangju. Further demonstration projects are being pursued in Boryeong, Buan and Jeju.
Hyundai will also present waste-to-hydrogen solutions around HTWO Energy Cheongju. The approach converts organic waste into hydrogen as part of a circular economy model.
Other projects being pursued include a biogas-based hydrogen production plant in Paju and locally tailored initiatives in Indonesia.
Connect hydrogen supply with demand
Beyond individual technologies, Hyundai’s exhibition presents scenarios that connect the production and consumption of hydrogen in cities, ports, logistics operations and production sites.
The Saemangeum AI Valley concept combines solar energy and electrolysis with AI data centers, a robotics production facility and an AI hydrogen city concept.
The model illustrates how hydrogen energy, AI and robotics could be integrated into urban infrastructure and services within a self-sustaining circular ecosystem.
Visitors can also board a development model of the ELEC CITY Fuel Cell low-floor intercity bus to explore its accessibility features.
Driving programs featuring an improved UNIVERSE fuel cell coach and the new XCIENT fuel cell tractor are available to select industry participants and media.
WHE 2026 brings together around 190 companies and organizations from 12 countries. In addition to the exhibition, conference and partnership programs focus on hydrogen business opportunities, project investments and international collaboration.
Hyundai said its exhibition aims to demonstrate practical hydrogen systems adapted to different regional and industrial needs.
