Agentic AI in Security Operations: Oracle on Data and Identity

Security teams are changing their approach in the world of artificial intelligence and relying on automation to turn signals into results while maintaining the right context and control.

Complicating this transition is the need to identify the right role for AI and find the right mix of human craftsmanship and autonomous decision-making. Database security providers such as Oracle Corp. work with customers to support AI innovation, particularly through the adoption of agent AI, without compromising data security.

“Customers are leaning in,” said Johnnie Konstantas (pictured), group vice president, Oracle Cloud Engineering, at Oracle. “They understand that they need to automate where they can. It’s really about understanding where the sensitive assets are and … where in the enterprise AI is being built, particularly agent AI. That inventory is extremely important.”

Konstantas spoke with Dave Vellante at Oracle’s “AI Cyberattacks Are Escalating: How to Secure Your Data Now” event during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed a growing focus on identity controls for AI agents and how Oracle’s solutions keep data protection at the cutting edge as AI-powered attacks continue to evolve. (*Disclosure below.)

Security operations target agent AI

As documented in CUBE Research’s recent analysis of the Black Hat USA cybersecurity conference, the security industry is paying particular attention to AI agents and their growing role in enterprise operations. According to Konstantas, this leads to a greater focus on identity.

“Agent AI brings to the fore the idea that an agent and multiple subagents, acting as proxies for a person, can access data,” he told theCUBE. “So identity takes a new form, where the agent sort of carries these permissions with them to access a particular workflow and maybe even take action. Make sure you have a good identity to the extent that it’s consistent and ubiquitous.”

Oracle has integrated agentic AI solutions into its security portfolio. Konstantas noted that the best solutions are often based on a customer’s data and how they want to secure it.

“I like to start clients with what they have going for them, rather than the Oracle solution,” said Konstantas. “What are you trying to achieve? Where is your sensitive data? When we look at the data itself, we see a whole range of features that we have introduced, particularly with the latest version of the AI database, that are specifically aimed at agent AI.”
